Rating: 75%. Would recommend to others. Easy to get to from airport--blue line, then red line on the Metro to Omonia, located on corner of Oktovriou (Patission) and Verazerou (best to have a map because Omonia station has many exits up the escalaters onto Omonia Square). Adequate breakfast included, great coffee. The hotel has a narrow, compact feeling with narrow elevators, but I suspect many hotels of this nature (being in a crowded city) give that feeling. Had a first floor room (ground floor, then restaurant floor, then first floor). Friendly, helpful staff. Internet availability, 30 min. limit per day. The room was clean and roomy enough, recently remodelled. Noisy street, but that's Athens, I think. Close to Starbucks for who just can't do without. Walkable to archeological museum. We also walked up to the Acropolis because it was such a nice day. While the Polis Grand isn't in the best neighborhood, it didn't seem dangerous (my daughter and I were travelling alone, so we weren't out later than 10pm). 8th floor restaurant has a wonderful view at night of the Acropolis and Lykavitos Hill, but during the day the city's buildings detract from the view (but then, who stays at their hotel during the day when there is so much to do in the City?). Didn't find many restaurants nearby, but the Exarhia Square area (trendy) (5-10 min walk)has several; Monastiraki (10-20 min walk) has many estiatorios (bistros?), too. The 700W built-in hairdryer was worthless, bring your own (two-prong outlets, 220-240V of course). Minibar, but no hot water kettle.
